Daniëlle Pretorius moved to Bloemfontein from Richards Bay in 2014.
She received her BA Fine Arts degree with distinction in 2018 from the University of the Free State. In 2016 and 2017 she received the Fine Arts Department’s award for best Fine Art student, and in 2017 she received the award for the best student in Art History and Image Studies.
In 2017 she participated in the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition. She was selected as one of the top 40 artists who participated in the competition and her entered work was bought by Phatshoane Henney Attorneys for their permanent art collection.
In 2017 Pretorius also took part in a group exhibition, Stream of consciousness, at the Liebrecht Gallery in Somerset-West. At the end of 2017 she was invited to join the Free State Arts Collective. In 2018 Pretorius was commissioned by Phatshoane Henney Attorneys to paint an artwork for their offices and she participated in a group exhibition at Gallery on Leviseur, Dwell in possibility.
Pretorius mainly works in mediums such as paining (oil) and photography, but also experiments with different mediums such as beeswax.
