Louis Krüger explores the entanglement of mysticism, movement and the landscape primarily through the means of digital art.
His academic qualifications include: a MA-degree in Fine Arts (cum laude) obtained at the University of the Free State in 2016, a BA-degree in Fine Arts in 2012 at the same institute (where he passed his final year with a distinction and received the 2012 Best Senior Student in New Media Award), and a diploma in Graphic Design and Photography at the Planet Pixl School of Advertising in 2008.
Krüger's art awards include the following: he was chosen as the winner of the 2012 Fractal Young Artist Exhibition held at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum; he qualified for the Absa L’atelier Art Competition in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2017 he won a merit award at the Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art Competition and was selected as a top 5 finalist at the Africa Art Box Awards held in Dakar, Senegal.
In 2018 he exhibited at the RMB Turbine Art Fair and qualified for the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition. His art is in the collections of the War Museum of the Boer Republics and the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. Furthermore, Krüger acted as project coordinator for VROST (Vrystaat Open Studio Tour) in 2017 and 2018 – held annually as part of the Vrystaat Arts Festival.
